Camp Alpine Lake is Goldie's home away from home. The camp comes with a hefty price tag, and the only reason Goldie was able to attend in the first place was because her parents worked there. After a nightmare of a year at home, Goldie is harbouring a dark secret. She returns to camp as a counsellor with her two best friends Ava and Imogen. Only she's not the only one hiding something. When a local boy is found dead in the lake, people start pointing fingers about who may be responsible for his death.
This was a lot of fun for what it was. The summer camp setting gave me so much nostalgia. I really loved the friendship between Goldie, Ava and Imogen. They were so caring and loyal to one another. I liked the alternating timeline between "then" and "now". I think it was a great and effective way to unfold the mystery to the reader. I was not a fan of Goldie, which made it difficult to root for her. It wasn't even Goldie herself, it was just the dumb, stupid, idiotic decision she made (which leads to her giant secret). I'm sorry but, COULD NEVER BE ME.
I didn't see the ending coming though, which made it all the better in my opinion. A great book to read during the summer months!
