A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas
3.0

I’m a sucker for anything Beauty & the Beast related, but definitely don’t think this is worth all the hype I’d heard about it, though still enjoyable. A couple of observations:
- I have no clue what the difference is between faeries and the High Fae. Maybe that’s on me for not paying attention while reading early on? Or am I just supposed to know from other fantasy books I’ve read? Overall, I could figure it out enough to follow the story, but it just bothered me because I felt like it was never made clear.
- The ending felt Twilight-y. (when Feyre is saved by being turned into High Fae. and also perhaps we’re on track for Rhysand to be the Jacob Black to Tamlin’s Edward Cullen?)
- Why was it called A Court of Thorns and Roses? I think thorns were mentioned once and definitely didn’t seem to be a motif throughout. Roses were just there on the walls surrounding the manor? Felt like a stretch to connect to Beauty & the Beast.
