I love this series. This being the second to last volume, it’s a climax of a sort. That said the series has several climaxes because of its storytelling conceit. The characters are going on all cylinders. The highs are high, the lows are emotional gut punches. The shocks are huge. Love it. Highly recommended, only drawback is the occasional fan service nudity that’s entirely arbitrary.
Graphic: Animal death, Body horror, Child death, Chronic illness, Death, Emotional abuse, Gore, Self harm, Torture, Violence, Blood, Grief, Medical trauma, Death of parent, Murder, Fire/Fire injury, Gaslighting, Alcohol, Injury/Injury detail, and Classism
The self harm and a lot of the violence and trigger material is largely because of the storytelling conceit of the series that’s central to the overall mystery. Be aware because these triggers will come back up repeatedly. The fan service nudity is absolutely arbitrary. The other nudity is of the horror variety so monstrous deformities where it’s more unfamiliar. Be aware regardless. The idea of who is in power is given a lot of time in this volume. Who’s using who is discussed a lot.
