Roll For Romance by Lenora Woods
4.5

As someone currently going through work-related burnout, this book was the warm hug I so desperately needed. Roll For Romance is all about rediscovering yourself, finding joy in the small things, and learning that home doesn't always have to be a place - it can be the people you share your life with. It reminded me that, sometimes, healing means stepping back, questioning the roles we've been playing in life, and taking the time to reconnect with who we are underneath it all.

I loved the way the story was structured, alternating between Sadie's day to day life recovering from burnout in the care of her incredibly supportive and thoughtful bestie Liam (giving her little daily "quests" to ease her back into life, ughhh my heart), and snippets of their D&D campaign with a group of local newbies. The way the campaign stayed distinct yet mirrored and supported Sadie’s real-life journey was so perfectly done.

Her growing friendships with the other group members, and her heart-meltingly adorable relationship with Noah, were so sweet and full of genuine connection. Everything about their dynamic felt gentle, respectful, and deeply earned. Noah in particular was such an interesting character - funny, warm, and social on the surface, but with layers of vulnerability that added so much depth.

This book reminded me how powerful kindness can be, and how love - romantic, platonic, creative - can play such an important role in bringing us back to ourselves.
