Other People's Houses
by Abbi Waxman
I recently read Abbi’s other book, The Garden of Small Beginnings and enjoyed it enough to check out this book. This book centers on four families whose lives are connected by proximity. Frances is the carpool mom who drives all the kids to school. Most of the story centers on the aftermath of Frances Bloom discovering her neighbor, Ann Porter was having an affair with a much younger man. The event forces each couple to examine their own marriage. I liked the writing, for lack of a better term it was snarky entertainment. The Horton family’s story line could have been completely left out of the book. That story line also felt aIt felt like an afterthought. Ann’s teenage daughter Ava’s story line was a bit flat too. I enjoy how the author worked in her main character, Lilian, from The Garden of Small Beginnings.
