Lady Scandal by Laura Lee Guhrke

4.75

Kissing you would be like lighting a match in a room full of gunpowder. And explosions like that can annihilate a man. - Simon, Lord Calderon

Lady Scandal focuses on the spirited Lady Delia Stratham, event planner for the illustrious Savoy Hotel in London. When the newly titled Lord Calderon, Simon, arrives at the hotel to conduct an audit, the two face off in a battle of wills!

The hotel setting is a nice departure from typical historical romance settings. And our heroine being a three time widow? Say less! Delia had a surprising backstory that made her relationship with the Savoy Hotel and Simon really standout. Simon’s background and new title wasn’t explored as much, and I wish we’d had a bit more of that, but it still gave enough to understand the complexities of his character.

I can’t explain it, but Delia is the 1898 version of Lorelei Gilmore. I will not be taking questions.

Banter… ugh! The banter!! It’s just so good!!! I think this is partially why I get Lorelei vibes from Delia. She’s charming, quick, and witty! And Simon irks her so much she can’t stand it! I love it!!! 😭👏🤤

I sat down intending to read just a few chapters to get started and ended up reading 60% of the book. SIXTY PERCENT! I loved it from the get go, friends!

Thanks to forever for the complimentary arc. All opinions are my own.
