O Ofício de Viver by Cesare Pavese

3.0

A book that tears you apart and destabilizes you as if the hands of a clock had changed direction, we ask ourselves a single question while reading this book: why do most geniuses suffer from the pain of living? Through the clues, the author's elements give us about his discomfort in life. Despite that, we become embedded in his perception of things that also go beyond our understanding. Sometimes, we find ourselves there. Even if we identify with it, we keep asking ourselves the same question. He makes us understand at the same time that all sufferings are not equal and all have curing; there are also specific successes which do not guarantee happiness.
A book that is not read only with the gaze of a reader who wants to enjoy the author's words, but it is a book that asks the reader to become "a maker of life.''.
