Give me a Sign moved me to laughter and tears. this young adult story offered a wonderful plot and created colourful and interesting characters that live full lives outside of camp. the camp is a wonderful opportunity to learn about other people's experiences who have similar lives to the main character. As someone born with severe and progressive hearing loss, it is interesting and frustrating to see the ways that her life is still centered on hearing. her family mainstreams herself and her brother instead of introducing them to death culture aside from sending her to camp for one summer. this summer presents an opportunity to explore the deaf culture and find her identity.
