The Serpent and the Wings of Night by Carissa Broadbent

3.0

I enjoyed this book more than I thought I would - so dark and moody. Vampires can really be an overdone trope but it doesn’t feel stale here. The central conflict is interesting and becomes gripping in the last quarter of the book where secrets start coming out at the speed of a train gaining momentum. Definitely enjoyed the slow burn and can’t wait to find out what happens in book two after the cliffhanger. Also appreciate there are some great side characters to love, it’s not all about the romance and battles.
