To Believe in Women: What Lesbians Have Done For America - A History by Lillian Faderman

5.0

Faderman makes a compelling case that the people behind some of feminism's greatest successes--suffrage, women's education, politics and the professions--were in fact lesbian and bisexual women, quietly making shared lives with each other in private even as they loudly advanced civil rights in public.

My favorite part of this book was all the love letters.
