Trigger warning: Body image, eating disorders, sexual abuse

I could really see myself as a teenager completely identifying with the main character of the story. I never was overweight but I was very much insecure about my body and I could see my past self in Virginia while I was reading this book. I really appreciate the way it tackled the issue of body image and how harmful it can be, especially for teenagers.
On the other hand, I felt like some other problems were mentioned but never fully resolved, which I found a bit odd. The end of the story focuses entirely on how Virginia's life has changed and how positive she has become but there are so many other aspects of the story that I am still questioning. Fortunately, the sequel is coming out this year and hopefully, I will find all the answers I need in the next book.
I would highly recommend this book to any contemporary fans as well as people who typically don't enjoy these types of books. I myself am not the biggest fan of contemporaries but this one I found to be really fun and engaging (except for the few last pages).
