For a book about a goddess, Circe's story is so keenly human. It's told in a kind of slice-of-life format, but, being a goddess, Circe's story is anything but boring. The plot is captivating at every turn, spanning hundreds of years and generations of men, and Circe survives it all, though not without the scars of memory, regret, and guilt. I loved seeing my favorite Greek myths captured in this book, but more than that, I fell in love with Circe and her growth. She takes root and blooms and thrives, all in time. And the conclusion of the book (not the end of her story) is so poignant and beautiful. I only stopped myself from giving this book a 5/5 star rating in case my opinion ebbs a bit in the next few weeks after finishing this book. If it doesn't, I plan to change the rating to a full 5 star!! Highly recommend!
