Huckleberry Hill by Emma Slate
4.0
I believe the best word to describe this book is cozy. Because this story was a real cozy romance, with a feel good vibe and adorable characters and funny moments.
I really like the small town trope, and as I'm beggining to realize, I love ranch and cowboy romance as well.. who knew? ðŸ¤
I liked Emma's previous books and her stories and her writing style is just my thing, so when I had the chance to read this one I was stoked. And I wasn't disaponted. She writes stories with heart, character and strenght, and we get lost in them. I will always recommend her books.
In this story we have Hadley, a young woman who returns home to her family small town ranch after her relationship ended. She and her ex found out she was infertile and things just didn't worked out. So a few days in her favorite place were just what she needed.
Declan was a ranch hand at her family's ranch, and he was the perfect golden retriever male character. Lovable, sweet, funny and a tiny bit jealous and possessive when needed. A perfect mix. He fell for Hadley as soon as he met her and as determined as he was he didn't let her go.
They had a love/lust at first sight, and after that moment their banter and every interaction led us to a really good relationship with her being more cautious and him being all in. But as soon as some fears were put aside, their love was beautiful to read.
They had some obstacles, for sure, mainly the ones Hadley's mind created, but Declan was good cleaning thos cobwebs.
The side characters such as Hadley's sister and best friends were perfect additions but the best of the best was Muddy. I loved Muddy. She was smart, funny and devilishly diabolical! 😅 She was probably the cherry on top of this book and it truly wouldn't be the same without her sass and her grandma knowledge.
I can't wait to see more of her in Salem's story.
