A Mrs. Miracle Christmas by Debbie Macomber
Read April 2024

A Mrs. Miracle Christmas is a heartfelt, faith-based, hopeful tale about love, surrender, and angels on earth. Beautifully written novel about angels on earth, miracles, and answered prayers from God.

*SPOILER WARNING*
This review may contain slight spoilers

Positive messages: 5/5
God answers all prayers in His timing, just not in the way we sometimes think he will. Even after much heartbreak, anything is possible and God will bless your small faith–even if it is as small as a mustard seed. This novel shows that anything is possible with God and that angels are waiting around the corner watching over us.

Positive role models: 5/5
Zach and Laurel love all the children that they foster and always hang on to hope even through hurt and heartbreak. They gave up their own lives to take care of Helen, Laurel’s grandmother, who is suffering from dementia. Helen, though she says things she shouldn’t say at times, is a smart and hilarious woman that readers will love. She has so much faith and spunk! Mrs. Miracle glows with love and laughter. You will find out soon enough who she really is…and who she is sent from.

Drinking/Drugs: 1/5
Two characters have a margarita while they are out to eat together. Helen enjoys a glass of wine.

Violence and Gore: 0/5

Sex, Romance, and Nudity: 2/5
It says that two characters made love/cuddled two nights in a row despite the odd circumstances around them. Characters kiss.

What Parents Should Know:
This novel is definitely based on Christian attributes, though some of the information we don’t know is correct. Angels on earth talk and speak to characters and tell them that they are angels. They also tell them about things that they shouldn’t know about frequently. They say that in Heaven everyone uses their talents for a different ‘job’ and that worship isn’t 24/7, which some may think is incorrect. However, the novel is sweet and Mrs. Miracle is someone who you will fall in love with! Helen is full of spunk and faith and you will get to know her better. Zach and Laurel hang onto hope, even after three failed IVF treatments and their foster baby being ripped away from them. There are no sexual scenes, although it is mentioned that characters make love to each other. I fell in love with this book and it is perfect for any season–not just Christmas. I read it in April for the first time and ADORED it! I finished it in about 2 hours (a single sitting). It was very interesting and I was hooked from the start!
