Winterhouse by Ben Guterson
3.0

This was a cute middle grade book about an orphan named Elizabeth who gets to spend Christmas at a mysterious hotel called Winterhouse. She is not sure why she has been so lucky to get to stay here because her aunt and uncle have treated her badly all of her life. When they surprisingly win the chance to go on a trip and also have the money to send her to Winterhouse, Elizabeth is suspicious. At Winterhouse she meets many eccentric people and makes several friends. However, there are some odd things that happen and mysterious books that are missing. I enjoyed the setting and thought that Elizabeth was a like-able character who I wanted to do well. If I had read this when I was younger I am sure that I would have loved it but reading it as an adult I wasn't as captivated as I should have been. I would recommend this book if you are younger or if it sounds interesting to you.
