All Hercule Poirot wants is a nice vacation relaxing on a cruise down the Nile River, but alas, someone has to go and kill a young, beautiful heiress onboard. This book delightfully intertwines colorful characters, suspicious events, and murky motives. I could see how Christie’s writing had evolved from her first novel too, and I enjoyed the narration and POVs used in this book, which really added to the mystery as you weren’t quite sure what was being left out and what to believe. I was correctly on to the killer in the middle part of this book, but a few red herrings then distracted me until the end. Maybe I will be able to piece together the clues correctly in the next Christie novel I try. This book is an obvious classic, for better and for worse; the reader should expect some words around class and race that while presumably matching to the times and definitely not as bad as those in some other older novels, do jump off the page at the modern reader.
