Radiance by Grace Draven
5.0
dark mysterious reflective tense slow-paced
Plot or Character Driven: A mix
Strong character development: Yes
Loveable characters: Yes
Diverse cast of characters: Yes
Flaws of characters a main focus: Complicated

As a novice romance fantasy reader Radiance is so well paced and so amazing! I totally get the hype. This is the first time I've read a book where the two main characters don't instantly fall into instant lust but became instant friends!! That's so refreshing!!

The romantic pacing is near perfect  it's not until over 50% where FMC starts to feel physical desire for MMC. So much of their romance is built on the foundation of friendship, humor, trust and communication. Truly these two are so perfect for each other it almost hurts.

The kai culture was very interesting to read about especially the mortem light, their grieving ceremonies, rich dying fabric trade. A lot of those elements match real life historical textile business so I found the vert refreshing.

While Grace Draven did an amazing efficient job, 230 pages still far too short for such an interesting world.
the ending and epilogue leaves a lot of unanswered questions and confusing magic system

My ratting is 5/5⭐  because I felt The emotional buildup was so well paced and beautiful despite the short length and lacking world buildings. However I am still intrigued enough to
read this series in the future.
