A fantastic ending to such a well-written series! It kept shocking me with its twists right up until the very end. Though, it's sort of hilarious that Makiko, after all of it, didn't really learn her lesson. God damn.

Also, I did not see the twist that the person who truly set the fire was the youngest brother. I was completely shocked when he confessed The saddest part is that it wasn't even on purpose. A kid made a dumb mistake and blew apart so many people's lives from a single mistake. Then on top of it, his guilt from "setting" the fire and being terrified of being turned in for the past tenish years was for nothing. Japan doesn't criminalize children. God damn. Good on Satsuki for not taking her chicken shit ex-husband back, and good for her for finally getting closure. STILL don't know how I feel about Anzu and Kiichi ending up together. It feels weirdly shoehorned in and just gives weird vibes.

This last volume also had some of the best art in the entire series. The artist really excellent for terrifying expressions, and it really shone in this volume. There was also an illustration that I thought was beautifully done.
