Indoor Cat: How to Enrich Their Lives and Expand Their World by Lynn Bahr DVM

This book strangely reads like it was written by someone who thinks cats should never live indoors. The entire first chapter is spent trying to convince you that your cat is miserable living with you and that your efforts to keep them safe indoors is giving them extreme depression and mental health problems. Some of the claims about lifespan and declawing don’t match conversations with my own vet or personal research I’ve done, so I question the validity of the information in this book. It gets a little better by the end but the tone continues to be condescending throughout.

1 star was only awarded because occasionally you get a few okay enrichment suggestions here and there, though they aren’t anything super groundbreaking.

Overall this is an absolutely bizarre book. I was extremely disappointed because I loved the Adventure Cats book by Laura J. Moss. If you want a good cat book go read that one instead.
