I have to say, not nearly as good as I expected considering it was written by Jennifer Fallon. Way too slow and never got to the point (and seriously, I am one of the people that is least bothered by a slow book, but come on...). It all just felt really contrived, I never really bought into the world. Very sad, because her Second Sons trilogy was one of my favorites. But I did really WANT to like this book, and I liked Cayal (there needed to be more of his POV and less of Arkady...she got annoying, but then, I don't get along well with girls), which is the only reason this book got a 3. Really it should probably be a 2, but then I'd have to go change the book I read before this to a 1, because this definitely wasn't as bad as that, and that would require effort...but I really wanted to like this book, so I'll leave it at a 3.
