Based on a True Story by Norm Macdonald
2.0

Being a card carrying member of the Cult of Norm, I had high expectations for this audiobook. Everything Norm Macdonald does is funny, so why wouldn’t his novel follow suit? Well, because it’s not really even trying to be comedic. Sure, some chapters are funny (there are a lot of stories I heard him tell much better on various talk shows), but most of Based on a True Story is a kind of self-aware Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas spoof. I wasn’t amused by any of that.

I would have much preferred the old chunk of coal just read an old joke book instead.
