Beren and Lúthien by J.R.R. Tolkien

This book will appeal to readers of The Lord of the Rings, Fantasy, Poetry, and Literary History.
Tolkien created an entire world, and this book gives additional insight into that world. It is similar to [b:The Silmarillion|7332|The Silmarillion|J.R.R. Tolkien|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1610045590l/7332._SX50_.jpg|4733799] but also includes notes on how Tolkien's son went through letters, manuscripts, and his own memory of his father to compile and complete these works.
Many people agree that Tolkien was a master storyteller, but few praise his poetry. As a literalist poet, his craft was finely honed. His prose is beautiful and melodic. It adds so much life to the other works in his vast collection.
I listened to the Audiobook version, and while the two narrators voices were smooth and appropriate, when reciting the poems they tended to break with the lines and not necessarily when it made sense to poetically or rhythmically (imho).
