The Science of Discworld by Terry Pratchett
5.0

Science. Discworld. I feel like this book was made for me.

As popular science books go, it's a bit of a weird one. Half of the book is a story about the wizards at the Unseen University accidentally creating 'Roundworld' and their thoughts on the idea of a world that doesn't follow a narrative. The other half is a bunch of science essays about what we know about the Earth's history, starting all the way back from the formation of the universe. The science in some bits is a bit dated, given when the book was published you can hardly blame it for that, but the most interesting parts are when it looks at how the human need for storytelling has influenced the way we try and figure out how the world works. It's all very meta, I love it.

Also there was a chapter on dinosaurs, so you know, 10/10 from me.
