‘Good Mourning, Darling’ is a cozy horror romance featuring a female autistic lead and a forced proximity (monster) love interest.

Whilst not my usual type of book, I was pleasantly surprised to find that I genuinely had a fun time reading it. My initial interest stemmed from the description of ‘cozy horror’ and an own voices autistic main character. I must say, these aspects that initially piqued my interest remained strong throughout!

I'd like to highlight a small detail that I appreciated. This book has a dual narrative, with each switch in narrative at the start of a new chapter indicated not only by the character's name but also by an accompanying image, which provides an immediate visual cue as to whose perspective we are following.

As an autistic person, I truly appreciated the representation in this book. I felt like Azalea did a great job of explaining Ella’s thoughts in a way that would ensure that non-autistic readers pick up on important cues they may otherwise miss.

My favorite aspects of this book were the diverse representation, the cozy vibes that occasionally took unexpected turns, and the humorous and authentic dialogue.

Overall, this book delivered exactly what it set out to do. If you're a fan of cozy horror, monster romance, and/or are seeking more diverse representation, 'Good Mourning, Darling' may just be the perfect next read for you.

Thank you to the author for the e-arc. All opinions are my own.
