This book was good however very bizarre. It's both set in the 1920's but also in a more futuristic setting, so not our 1920's. The only reason I believe the time setting was then was due to the obsession at the time for asylums and mental illness cures.
This could have honestly been set in any time peorid.
I did enjoy the book and it's eerie horror. I do feel like 111 pages was condensed and well filled. The plot was fully rounded and came to a satisfying conclusion. It didn't feel too rushed given the shortness.
I don't want to say too much as I will unintentionally spoil something, but needless to say the science fiction horror is very present and well imagined.
I don't think it needed to be longer as such. However I do think it being a trilogy seems unnecessary as surely it could have all been in one book. But that's just a personal preference.
