The Hidden Guardian by J.D.L. Rosell
medium-paced
4.0
The Hidden Guardian by J.D.L. Rosell is the third book in the Rangers of the Titan Wilds series.
While I absolutely loved the first two, I "just" enjoyed this one a lot. The scope gets a lot bigger, but I also felt a bit removed from the story for some reason. I think it's the switch from being very closely focused on the main character and her immediate stakes, to a more epic style and more politics, factions and such.
While I do love quite some epic fantasy with big and complex worlds, here it just didn't feel as... Integral and engaging?
Don't get me wrong, I still love the characters the world building, the growth! It's not in any way a bad book, it's just an 8/10 and not a 10/10 from me.
