A friend told me this was like Schitt's Creek meets The Deadliest Catch and I was curious. I did enjoy Piper who was indeed "a little bit bit Alexis" (or a lot) and I can see why the sex scenes got such an enthusiastic response. One of these scenes lasted ten pages!
I think this book wasn't for me because as much as I'm into M/F pairings, I am just too queer for a lot of the old social narratives about cishet romances to work in my brain. So much of the fantasy centered on "this male is 100% manly!" and "this female is 100% feminine!" kind of energy, especially in the bedroom. There was a lot of possessiveness and a sense that he knew what was best for her that didn't click for me, but I definitely get why the fantasy works for folks.

Moderate: Misogyny, Sexism, Suicidal thoughts, Pregnancy, Alcohol, Classism
Minor: Fire/Fire injury, Injury/Injury detail
(Sex-specific CW) There are multiple sex scenes where his ownership of her is a turn on, and where the thought of getting pregnant is a turn on. They have a lot of unprotected sex, including sex in a hospital room. If any of those themes are hard for you, you might want to look elsewhere.
