Beauty and the Mustache by Penny Reid
4.0
I had already tried to read the Winston Brothers, book 1. I tried 2 times unsuccessfully. I then listened to the audio book, and found it to be much better. Weird. Anyway, in the process of listening to Truth or Beard, I discovered this book. The Winston sister book.
Although it was really, really long (12 hrs and 21 min), I enjoyed it for the most part. There were a number of humorous moments. I started out not really liking Ashley, but she grew on me. Drew was a different kind of H, but I liked the way that he was kind dependable, and supportive.
The whole situation with the mother was heartbreaking. Something I could totally relate to. In fact, if anyone has lost someone close to them, this may be a difficult read.
I thought the narration was good. I haven't come across many female narrator's who can read the male parts and make me forget that the scenes are being read by a female.
I liked how Ashley was able to learn about her brothers and see them in a different light. Some things I heard in this book served as explanations for some things I heard in Truth or Beard.
I think the only real drawback for me was the length of the audio book. I would recommend you read or listen to this book before you start the Winston Brothers series. Its not mandatory, but it would have added to the enjoyment for me.
