Normally, Sedaris knocks it out of the park. He seems to have the most diverse life experience with the funniest takes on human foibles imaginable. I still consider his "Holidays on Ice" a must-listen every Christmas season. And Sedaris really must be experienced in audio (once you get past the Woody-Allen-like voice). But Let's Explore Diabetes with Owls skews to the maudlin more often than not. Half the stories made me want to either tear up -- though didn't quite get there -- or skip the track to bring the humiliation to a merciful end. Overall, not one of his strongest collections.
