21 lezioni per il XXI secolo by Marco Piani, Yuval Noah Harari

4.0

This was exactly what I wanted and how I wanted it. But then again, Yuval Noah Harari never really disappoints. At the moment, I can safely say he is my favourite popular science writer and overall thinker. Few non-fiction authors are as stimulating, engaging and thought-provoking as he is.

As the title suggests, after investigating the past and then the future in his previous books, in "21 Lessons for the 21st Century", Harari explores our rather intricate and discombobulated present. He goes through a vast array of topics, or rather issues and crisis that are affecting or will eventually affect us in a not-so-distant future. In this book, he analyses the state of our global politics, economics, the crisis in our beliefs systems, the impending climate crisis, the technological advances and how they will condition our society, and so on and so forth. In short, it's a very comprehensive, exhaustive and multifaceted overview of the current century according to Yuval Noah Harari.

Despite the richness and complexities of the content, the author does a great job at illustrating concepts and ideas in a way that is easy to follow and digest. Never once did I feel lost or overwhelmed while reading the book. I would highly recommend it to anyone. Or if not these, any other book by Yuval Noah Harari.
