I read this a couple weeks after reading Shakespeare’s original. Nesbo’s version put a nice modern theme to Macbeth and mostly stayed true to the characters and plot. I liked it because he gave more background to the characters, their inner struggles, and weaknesses. It even helped me to understand the original better. The only drawback to knowing the plot is that you know everything is going to implode eventually.
