Beautifully written, obviously -- it's Le Guin. But I think it lacks the subversion that makes other Le Guin novels stand out. I'm generally uninterested in prophecied princes saving the world, even if the threat to the world is a thematically poignant one. Still, I thoroughly enjoyed myself reading this book. The Le Guin sauce cannot be fully resisted!
