I have waited too long to read this book. I needed to let my love for Jude and Cardan settle before I could go back to Faerie and read a story that is not about them. But it was worth it! Holly Black is the Queen of Faerie and she continues to prove it with another awesome book!
“It is hard to explain the savagery of hope.”
I am not going to sit here pretending that anyone could live up to Jude. Suren is strong and has a powerful tragic backstory like Jude, but is lacks the focus, the determination. She is lost. During this book she grows, changes and becomes a better character, but she still has a lot of uncertainty and hesitation, she still second guesses herself and her power. I still don’t know how much I like her if we are being honest
