The Bronc Rider Takes a Fall by Debra Holt

5.0

The more they protest, the harder they fall ....

Trey Tremaine is a world champion bronc rider who is one a medical leave of absence from the rodeo circuit. He is recovering from some serious injuries after the bronc decided to show him who is boss. Instead of staying at his family home, he has decided to borrow a cabin belonging to a friend not too far away.

Laura Wilkes has come back to help take care of her grandfather's store while he is taking a vacation/honeymoon. She and her young son are enjoying their break from their "real" world in the big city. Laura tries to stay immune to Trey's charms once she literally falls into his arms but realizes soon realizes that they were meant to be. Laura remembers Trey from their high school days.

Trey meets Laura when she falls into his arms falling off an old rickety ladder. He ends up taking Laura and her son fishing and both fall into the river. This is the start of the wonderful fast paced novella. It is a quick read so perfect for a rare rainy day or a day when you are trying to escape the heat of summer. Or if you just need a quick escape.

My only issue with the book is that it is a novella. Novellas do make for fast quick reads but I think longer novels allow for more action and character development.

I did receive a copy of this novella in advance from the publisher in exchange for a fair and unbiased review.
