The more I read about aro and /or ace characters, the better I understand my (demiromantic) self. That said, Cass has the sapiosexual title on lock and you will never catch me referring to myself as such lol. She goes hard with the knowledge, but I think it’s adorable she found someone who is delighted by her thirst for more.
I love reading these short monster romances that feature characters who have such a strong grasp on who they are. That’s something that took me a couple of decades to reach - it’s almost like getting my own vicarious do-over. Thadd sounds hot and (charcoal) gray is my favorite color so I think I could happily date a gargoyle. His self-deprecating jokes definitely landed for me. I’m attracted to intellect for sure, but it was really enlightening to see how much more intense that attraction and need for it can be.
This might make me a cynic (which is fine), but I think these one-night stands turned HFN are so realistic for being happily for now instead of ever after. I genuinely enjoy that decision. And I love how the aro woman immediately started accommodating her gargoyle FWB after one night of intimacy, it’s so cute.
I received a copy of this book from Booksprout and this is my honest review. I’m over the moon to see how many more of these books Lola continues to pump out! 4.5 stars but that’s completely on me because I should have watched a few more Jeopardy episodes to boost my IQ for this read. Though, it did give me access to a higher level of empathy for the difficulty in finding this like-minded of a partner (of sorts).
