A Fatal Grace by Louise Penny

4.0

Another fun mystery set in the adorable village of Three Pines! I guessed who the murderer was early on, then doubted myself as the mystery took some twists and turns. This is one of those situations where you’re like “Who *wouldn’t* have wanted to kill this person?” There were actually two murders here, and of course there was a connection. The conclusion was satisfying and I loved spending time with these characters again. There are some overarching story arcs here, regarding the Arnot case and the presence of Yvette Nichol, who Gamache fired from his team in the first book but who has reappeared and who I can’t quite figure out. I have to continue the series, if for no other reason to follow these storylines (which I really hope don’t drag on too much, tbh.) But I’ll also be glad to visit the inhabitants of Three Pines again!
