They Called Me a Lioness: A Palestinian Girl's Fight for Freedom by Dena Takruri, Ahed Tamimi

challenging dark emotional informative inspiring sad tense

5.0

please read this. available on spotify. or through your local library. or through your indie bookstore

it felt eerie to be reading this while the same atrocities that Tamimi shares in her memoir were simultaneously happening all over again in G@za, the West Bank, and to Ahed Tamimi

Tamimi intimately shares her experiences with the Israeli army, the way they brutally murdered her family and community members, the way they treated her as a prize they won when she was arrested, the ways they tried to dehumanize her

and i deeply loved reading her account of her connection to the other girls and women she was imprisoned with. what a beautiful human being ❤️
