City of Souls and Sinners had a lot to love, but it also had its struggles. The first 40% was incredibly slow, and Loren and Darien’s constant miscommunication was frustrating—it felt like so many of their problems could’ve been avoided if they just talked.
That said, Loren’s character was much better in this book, though Darien felt like he backtracked. Their love for each other was really sweet, and the romance was a highlight. I also enjoyed getting glimpses of other relationships, but they felt underdeveloped—hopefully, they’re explored more in the next books.
The biggest downside was how chaotic the plot became, making it hard to follow at times. I still have so many questions, but despite its flaws, this was an enjoyable read, and I’m excited to see where the series goes next!
