Avalon High
by Meg Cabot
It's been a few years since I'd read this book and since I was in the mood for something light, I thought, why not go back and enjoy this story again? And I certainly did! Reading about new girl Ellie navigate a new school and fall head-over-heels for A. William Wagner and having to deal with her might-be-crazy teacher who thinks Will is the reincarnation of King Arthur never fails to be a hoot.
One thing, though, that stuck me that's never quite sunk in before: the moment where Mr. Morton says something like "if only I'd dealt with [Marco] when I'd had the chance." Dealt with? Um... Is Mr. Morton actually *regretting* that he didn't kill an obviously disturbed teenaged boy? Yikes. That moment really creeped me out a bit. Though, thankfully, it never came to that and instead Marco was getting shunted into therapy. Whew.
Still, overall, this continues to be a favorite of mine.
