mctumenas 's review for:
H is for Hawk
by Helen Macdonald
I received a copy of this book from NetGalley.
I kept on picking this book up and putting it down for several weeks. Not a quick read by any means. Yet, it kept drawing me back. Beautifully written, original, it captures the feelings of the falconer after the loss of her father, but the comparison to White and his story, was often a stretch. The descriptions of the goshawk and the environment were compelling; one could see the eyes of the gos, and see the world through Mabel's eyes. Multifaceted, descriptive prose- worth the time spent to enjoy this book.
