Written in blank verse, the story still feels whole and is colorful and clear. The character development lacks a little, but you know the important ones well. Ruby is whiney, but she should be. She's likeable and funny. You feel both her hurt and healing as she navigates her tragedies. You even end up liking Whip and kind of hating her mom...
