She's an icon! She's a legend! And She is the moment!

Amina, the legendary pirate captain, is drawn back to the sea for one last adventure when she is hired to rescue a kidnapped girl. While not usually the job for a ruthless pirate, maybe ten years of retirement changes a woman.

The combination of a competent, older female main character, the story-telling-like narration, and Chakraborty's magic and mythology systems make a stellar book.

I know this is supposed to be the first book in a series; however, I think it totally stands on its own! Some threads are left loose at the end, but it has a complete story arc (which I appreciated).

If you can, I highly recommend the audiobook! It added to the storytelling-ness.
