Mates: Posy: Book One by Mary Ann Weir
1.0
I have never written a bad review before but this book has inspired me. It felt like it was written by someone who has either never met another person before or has only met toddlers. I couldn't decide on which one it was by the time I finished; and yes, I actually finished it because I just couldn't believe it could get worse.
I was wrong.
The scene where her pack has the birds and the bees talk with her is the most cringy scene I have ever read and I read over 200 books a year so that's saying something. I get that Posie is traumatized, but these are still adult men that are supposed to be having this discussion with her. And every intimate scene is immature, gross, and certainly not sexy.
These adult men who are supposedly alpha wolf shifters in charge of one of the largest wolf packs in the US say things like "owie" when they get hurt. Like come on. Have you never met an 18/19/20 year old guy before? Maybe author was going for golden retriever energy, but this book was not that.
And seriously with the Posy character. Did she have to have a panic attack every single chapter? Someone just moves towards her and she's having one. And every time it's a big scene and everything has to stop and all her mates are freaking out and just ugh! It was ridiculous. We understand she's traumatized and has a difficult time dealing with things by the second one. Two panic attack scenes would be enough. Maybe a third thrown in somewhere closer to the end during a particularly dramatic scene. We definitely don't need one every chapter.
Something I loved though was every time one of the shifters would smell and find their mate for the very first time they would both yell "mate!" and run towards each. It was cute.
I'm sorry to author for this bad review because writing is hard, but I needed to write this to get all the ick out.
I should have stopped at 5%...
