Anyone's Ghost
by August Thompson
This was a tender story. I really enjoyed the characters and the setting. My favorite part was the beginning when Theron and Jake are establishing their relationship and navigating teenage years in the late 90s (? I think). As they moved into adulthood, this picture of best friends turning into strangers felt so familiar. So much remains unsaid throughout the story, and I like the freedom the reader has to navigate that with the characters. August Thompson is truly a gifted writer and he tells a good story here.
