This Violent Light by Bree Wilde

dark medium-paced

3.0

"An eruption of pleasure dances through my stomach. I don’t think a man’s ever looked at me like he is now. Like he doesn’t just want to sleep with me…like he wants to devour me whole." (Ch 2)

Stand-alone vampire romantasy.

"This violent light steals everything from my kind, and she’s my only shot at stealing it back. Our power. Our invincibility. Our freedom." (Ch 12)

Grace comes off at first like a Legally Blonde (which she consequently loves and is mentioned a few times in the story, btw) slash Mean Girls - 'we wear pink on wednesdays' type; all girly, bratty, and spoiled. But then she's just bratty, sulky, and full of tantrums. Very little self-preservation when it came to reigning in her petulant personality. She gets on everybody's nerves (mine included 🤪).

“You made me taste you, and now, I want to devour you.” (Ch 17)

Sebastian is a saint for putting up with all that drama and high-maintenance twaddle and IDEK how he could stand her, maybe it was a blood-pheromone led haze that turned him into something akin to a lustful horny schoolboy with a crush.

There were twists, kind of expected/anticipated though and the ending was a little lackluster. Cute story, albeit a tad bit vapid.
