The Four Winds by Kristin Hannah
5.0
Five stars. Ten stars. Have all of my stars.
This book broke me.
The Four Winds is a book about the limitless bounds of a mothers love. Elsa Martinelli is portrayed as a meek unassuming sort of woman with a fierce love for her children. We watch her strong, indomitable character struggle through the toughest years of soul crushing poverty, putting her love ones first every step of the way. I found this book to be such a raw and accurate depiction of motherhood, and all the highs and lows that come with it.
This book is gut-wrenchingly, heart-warmingly simplistic, wholly believable, and brutally vulnerable.
