The Binding by Bridget Collins

4.0

I can't decide whether to rate this book 3.5 or 4. It wasn't really what I was expecting - it was more of a romance than a fantasy - but even though I was more in the mood for magic and the fantastical, I enjoyed it. I love the concept of binding and binder's fever and was really rooting for Emmett. I don't want to give too much away, because I think the mystery and not knowing where it's going is what made it fun to read, particularly because it's quite slow paced.

SpoilerI really wish we'd got more time with Seredith as I really loved her character. She was my favourite - tough on the outside, but you know she's got a heart of gold. You know she loved Emmett. I also kind of wish she *had* been a witch! I'd love to read more books about the concept of binding. I feel like this book could have gone anywhere after Emmett got to Seredith's and I was really quite surprised when she died and everything seemed to go off in a totally different direction. Still, Collins kept me on my toes and I enjoyed where the book ended up, even if it wasn't what I set out to read!
