This is my first romcom book, and I have to say, it went beyond my expectations for a super enjoyable first experience! It's such a page-turner that I finished it in just two days.
Being Asian, I really appreciate how the author portrayed Asian moms. She did a fantastic job. Some conversations were so accurate that I couldn't help but burst into laughter. Plus, I learned a lot about Chinese-Indonesian cultures through this book. There's a wealth of discoveries packed into these pages.
The only downside is the absence of English translations for the Chinese or Indonesian sentences. I can manage the Indonesian parts, but the Chinese left me a bit lost. Also, some parts of the story seemed a bit nonsensical. But hey, it's a romcom – meant for enjoyment and laughs, not complexity.
I'm eager to explore more of her works. I highly recommend this book to anyone up for a romcom read!
