Wolf Bride by Elizabeth Moss

3.0

I just really enjoy historical fiction. What can I say? This is very much a historical fiction lite item. It was enjoyable, and I particularly liked the telling of Queen Anne’s trial and beheading from the point of view of the courtiers. I also enjoyed the dual perspective and third person limited narrative. A smart literary decision by the author, especially given that I enjoyed the male point of view much more than the female point of view. This could be character bias, but I personally enjoyed being in Lord Wolf’s mind more.

Overall, this was fun. I won’t be reading further in this series, I think, but I would recommend this to someone in search of this specific brand of adult historical fiction. Pacing is FAST, something I liked and disliked at different points. The characters have CHEMISTRY, but because of the pacing, I questioned the credibility of the depth of the emotions in these characters. A quick read, that runs hot and can be finished soon enough.
