That Blue Sky Feeling, Vol. 2 by Okura

4.0

August 2022. BL manga about coming of age and realizing you’re falling for your friends.

This is a sweet high school story, with our gregarious main character desperately seeking the friendship of a quiet, friendless classmate rumored to be gay.
It deals with homophobia quite a bit and the characters feel realistically flawed in not always knowing the right thing to say or the right way to act.

Looking forward to getting volume 3 from the library soon. It’s by Okura, the mangaka known for his more recent and ongoing series, “I Think Our Son is Gay,” which I love. While this one isn’t quite the 5 star perfection of that series, it feels personal and real and it’s lovely to see that type of narrator from a gay man, as opposed to the cute or less realistic boy’s love stories often written by women (though I’ve enjoyed plenty).

Got volumes 1-2 from sac library, have a hold on the 3rd (final volume) and hope to get it to read soon. Recommend.
